This peppermint oil rat repellent for car engine is a natural, tablet-style repellent designed to help keep rats and mice away from your car engine and wiring. Rodents are drawn to warm, quiet engine bays where they can nest and chew through wires and insulation. Strong peppermint scent is something rats tend to dislike, so the tablets work as a smell barrier rather than a poison. The listing describes the product as a natural, non-toxic option free from harsh chemicals. It is also useful at home, in cupboards, kitchens, store rooms and garages.

How to use peppermint oil rat repellent in a car: park the car, switch off the engine and let it cool before you open the bonnet. Place the tablets in cooler corners of the engine bay, near the wiring, along the edges and in spots where droppings or chewed insulation have appeared. Keep them away from moving parts, belts and hot components, and never place them on the engine block. You can also place a few tablets in the boot, under the seats and in your garage or parking area. Peppermint scent fades with time and heat, so replace the tablets regularly rather than leaving them for months. [Tablets per pack, recommended number per car, how long each lasts, and the brand, from the label.]

Peppermint oil can be harmful to cats and dogs if they chew or lick it, so keep the tablets out of reach of pets and children. The scent is strong, so avoid placing tablets near air intake vents inside the cabin. Results can vary, and a scent alone may not stop a determined rodent that is already nesting. Combine the tablets with a clean car: remove food wrappers, avoid parking near dustbins and check under the bonnet for droppings after the monsoon. For stronger protection, use it together with a repellent spray for car wiring. Place a rat trap cage in the garage if you already have a rodent problem. Never use poison in or around a car, because a rodent that eats bait may die hidden in the vehicle. For rats around the house, see our natural rat repellent spray for homes.
